GCP allows Data Engineers to efficiently manage the data pipeline with tools like Facets for analysis. It does not replace experts, but offers a centralized environment. Aqsone is exploring its use to evaluate its performance and architectural benefits for internal projects.
Every month, during a KLS (Knowledge Lunch Session), an Aqsone team member presents a technical topic they have worked on or are currently learning about to the rest of the company.
For the month of July, Data Engineer Matthieu Vinette presented the potential benefits for Aqsone in working with the Google GCP platform.
Indeed, this platform gives Data Engineers the ability to create and manage the entire Data Pipeline, from raw data ingestion to providing cleaned data to Data Scientists.

For example, GCP provides advanced, interactive tools for analyzing data and models, such as Facets (open-source). Facets allows you to visualize your data, feature by feature, and even work with images intuitively.
Such tools are a real asset for accelerating the data cleaning and de-biasing process.
Absolutely not!
GCP does not signal the end of Data Engineers. On the contrary, it offers them a new environment to master that centralizes all the essential tools for their work.
We fully intend to use it as a data science platform for the work at the Aqsone Lab, allowing us to concretely measure its potential benefits on internal projects, whether in terms of performance gains or by simplifying our project architecture.
